Today, we gathered with friends and family to commemorate the life of my brother, a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was a kind, generous, and brave man who always put others before himself.

Five years ago, my brother Pettis Curtis Adams III went into cardiac arrest in a grocery store parking lot. Bystanders did not know how to perform CPR, but they immediately called 911. While waiting for emergency medical services (EMS), they continuously called out his name as they watched him go in and out of consciousness. Bystanders reported that EMS arrived within five minutes.

Val Woods CPR was founded as a result of my experience during that time. It has become my passion to equip bystanders with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to act in emergency situations.
